Triptych is a trio for soprano, cello, and piano. They are members of the Live Music Now scheme in Wales and have toured extensively across the country, performing high-quality music in a variety of venues. As well as formal recitals, they take interactive performances in care homes, residential homes, and SEN schools. The trio presents a variety of repertoire from the Baroque to the Modern era, but particularly Romantic and 20th/21st Century music. They also take a particular interest in exposing relatively unknown music and arranging existing music to exploit their unique sound. Recent performances have taken them to venues such as The Riverfront, Porthcawl Pavillion, Aberdare Colosseum, the Marine Theatre, and Llandaf Cathedral.
The word Triptych itself means a set of three associated artistic, literary or musical works intended to be appreciated together.
"Songs by Borodin, Purcell and George Butterworth all proved that if the piano in this sort of trio is not going to shoulder the whole instrumental burden, there’s none better than a singing cello to share it" (South Wales Argus 2014)
